In this scene, Ash had to make a mistake of some sort. At least that is what the card #42 Oops made me want to do this scene. Combined with the repeat of Misfortune Cookie, this mistake had to be tied to her past, her aunt, and her first scene.
And where I landed was the fact that she called the cops. She tells them about the bomb. She has enough foresight to not be caught with it, of course, so she tells them about the next station. Her hope is that they’ll arrive there to deal with the bomb, while she gets off before then, and has a chance to drive as far away as possible. And as long as she’s holding onto the remote detonator, no one needs to get hurt. I think this also plays well into her need of “get away and start over” as her driving motivation
There are two obvious “oopses” she now has to face:
- She can’t get off the train. I set this scene parallel to Bill’s in the timeline, so both scenes ended with Bill’s standoff on the platform. Now they’re all stuck on this train with a bomb, headed toward the police at the next station.
- I also hinted at the fact that she’s missing something. I think there is a good chance that Sheriff Owens from Scene 2 might make an appearance, who is, as you recall, in the Boss’s pocket. As are many other county police, of course.
All in all, not great for Ash. This scene ended up pretty bad for her, so she’ll earn a black die, for sure.
- Bill: White 0, Black 1
- Ash: White 1, Black 3
- Jay: White 2, Black 1
This is already looking pretty bleak for Ash, though the more die of a color she gets, the better her chances for rolling high on that color, giving her some semblance of a good Aftermath.
But there is only one black die left in the pool. At least that means that the last few scenes of the story will end somewhat well for our cast—however anything can be “well” in this Fiasco.
Let’s take a quick look at Jay’s next card:
Listen, it might seem like I’m making this up, but it really, truly, without a lie, is what happened: Hug The Crocodile. Every single scene with Jay now has had that card come up.
Besides that, he also got
#30 Evil Twin

“Do you know which one you are?”
Two identical looking girls, each sitting at their own classroom bench. One is ready to take notes and learn, the other is burning her books with a lighter while playing on her phone.
No idea where this will lead me. We’ve seen two sides of him: The happy go lucky friend Jay, and the doubt-filled Jay that has something to prove. Maybe “Twin” will mean he’ll be torn between his two loyalties here.
We will see next time, I’m sure.
