Card #30: Evil Twin. Subtitle: Do you know which one you are? Two identical girls sit next to each other on their own school bench. The one on the left seems well behaved and ready to take notes in her notebook, well dressed and organized. The one on the right has tattoos, plays on her phone, wears boots and ripped jeans, and is setting her notebook on fire.

Rat Trap 2-9: Post Script

I tried to lean heavily on the tilt elements: Showdown and Frantic Chase, the latter more for how the scene ended.

I also did my best to have Jay feel the hurt of betrayal, the punishment for his repeated Hug The Crocodile card coming up. I wanted that to be the fuel for this scene’s card, Evil Twin. He needed to snap, get violent and direct, and try to take control for once.

And I think I accomplished all of that. We had a crazy showdown, Bill was forced to spill the beans, and Jay’s rage was fueled by all of that. No more mister nice Jay, he did indeed snap. Now, he has control over the remote, he has a gun, and is about the chase after his “friends” to bring them in, thereby solidifying his place within the organization.

Now, despite how it all went down, I think Jay got what he wanted in a twisted sort of way. His “Evil Twin” wants control, and, at least in his mind, Jay has it. All he needs to do is catch Bill and Ash, and then let the rest play out as it will. Easy as pie.

I would consider this scene going well for him, all things considered.

  • Bill: White 0, Black 1
  • Ash: White 1, Black 3
  • Jay: White 3, Black 1

Alright. Let’s take a look at next week’s card for Bill’s final scene:

#39 Fly Paper

“Sticky and sweet.”

A giant fly rubbing its, er, hands while looking at a strip of fly paper to which several tiny people are sticking.

Sounds like some sort of temptation is coming up for Bill. Is it Ash, the Boss’s phone, a chance to get away and start over? Is this some sort of leverage for Bill, or over him?

Find out next time.
