Card #11: Puny Humans. Subtitle: Sometimes it really is the end of the world. How would your story change if the stakes were cataclysmic? A massive alien-monster-thing is attacking a small town in the middle of the night, people screaming and running.

Rat Trap 2-12: Post Script

Jay’s final scene was about him and Bill trying to mend what’s broken between them. Their world is ending—their friendship, the job, maybe their lives. This entire scene has a finality to it, a total surrender of control.

To me, the “Puny Humans” of this scene’s card are Jay and Bill, literally. Just two small people out of their depth, without control, without hope. The world comes crashing down around them, and all they can do is laugh strained laughs, hold on to each other, as everything else seems to fade.

It doesn’t matter whether this scene went good or bad for Jay, as it’s the last one anyways. But for the purpose of the coming Aftermath, he earned the last remaining black die. So, this is the final dice pool for each character?

  • Bill: White 1, Black 1
  • Ash: White 2, Black 3
  • Jay: White 3, Black 2

Did Jay actually blow up the bomb? Does the bomb even work? Is Bill still alive? And what happened to Ash?

To answer this, I will have to take each of the characters’ dice pools, and roll on the Aftermath table.

That will have to wait until next time, however…
