Finally, Bill is stepping up and taking real charge. Too bad he’s not doing his duty, but instead is trying to leverage the Boss’s phone to barter for their freedom.
Fiasco is a game about high ambitions and poor impulse control. About flawed people reacting to plans falling apart not with logic, but with emotions.
The sweet treat of the Fly Paper card, the temptation and distraction, found its way into this scene in several ways. Ash and Bill’s relationship and need, trying to tempt the Boss with the phone, and the phone as the key object for his job. All those angles made it into the scene.
At least Ash and Bill made up? Kind of a romantic cliffhanger, no? He got the girl, if nothing else.
This scene resolves well for Bill, giving a white die. I think he was in control, won Ash over to his side, and has the Boss in tough spot, for now at least. While this a momentary win for him, he ends the game with only one die of each color. This means that his final Aftermath can’t and won’t end well for him. You’ll see.
- Bill: White 1, Black 1
- Ash: White 1, Black 3
- Jay: White 3, Black 1
Next up, Ash. Her final scene will be influenced by the following card:
#01 Cause And Effect

“How can the next few events result from your hero’s actions?”
A Rube Goldberg machine with several contraptions trying to light up a bulb above the head of a person writing in a notebook.
A fitting card for Ash’s last scene. I have talked about how she’s been a bit passive in her previous scenes (something a serious rewrite of the story would have to strongly address), so this card will surely drive her into action.
Can’t wait to find out just how exactly.
